Mode of action

Terbuthylazine is a triazine selective systemic herbicide absorbed principally through the roots, but also through the foliage, translocated acropetally in the xylem and accumulated in the apical meristems and leaves.

Site of action

Terbuthylazine binds to the plastoquinone-binding protein in photosystem II, inhibiting electron transport.
